Republican Party Chairman Greer Endorses
Representative Andy Gardiner for State Senate

Orlando - Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer today endorsed State
Representative
Andy Gardiner (R-Qrlando) in the open State Senate seat In District 9.
"I am pleased to endorse Representative Andy Gardiner for the State Senate:' said Chairman
Greer. "Since his election to the State House in 2000, Andy has worked tirelessly for the
people
of Central Florida. I am confident he will maintain the principled leadership style he
utilized so
effectively as House Majority Leader to carry on the great legacy of Republican leadership the
people of this district are so accustomed to."
Representative Gardiner is running for the State Senate seat currently held by Senator Daniel
Webster (R-Winter Garden) who is retiring from the Florida Legislature due to term limits.
Webster was first elected to the State House in 1980 and has served District 9 In the State
Senate since 1998. Senate District 9 encompasses parts of Orange, Osceola and Seminole
counties. Webster previously endorsed Gardiner.
"I am honored to accept Chairman Greer's endorsement and I look forward to the campaign
and to the opportunity to continue serving the people of Central Florida," said Representative
Gardiner. "I have learned a great deal from Senator Webster and will work with Republican
leaders in the State House and Senate to carry on his work that has generated great results
for
our region and our state over the past 28 years."
Senate President Ken Pruitt (R-Port St. Lucie), Senate President-Designate jeff Atwater
(R-Palm
Beach) and Senator Mike Haridopolos (R-Melbourne) previously endorsed Representative
Gardiner. Republican Party leaders including Republican Executive Committee Chairmen
George Jackow of Osceola County, Jim Stelling of Seminole County and Lew Oliver of Orange
County have also endorsed Representative Gardiner.
State Representative Andy Gardiner, 39, was first elected to represent State House District 40
in
2000, and was re-elected subsequently in 2002, 2004 and 2006. Gardiner served as House
Majority Leader from 2005-2006 with Speaker Allan Bense. Gardiner preViously served as
president of the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce and currently serves as the director of
Community and Business Development for Orlando Regional Health Care. Andy and his wife
Camille reside in Orlando with their two children, Andrew Jr. and Joanna. |
